"Achieving this level of success takes vision, planning and a commitment to long-term quality improvement. We applaud these communities for their achievement."

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sunrise Senior Living celebrates 66 of its communities that have been recognized as recipients of the 2016 Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The award is part of AHCA/NCAL’s National Quality Award Program, which honors long-term and post-acute communities across the nation that have demonstrated their dedication to improving the lives of residents through quality care.

The 2016 year recipients join Sunrise’s 76 assisted living communities that earned the Bronze National Quality Award last year. For a full listing, visit

“As part of the Sunrise Quality Promise, all of our communities are dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality senior care. We also celebrate those participating in AHCA/NCAL’s National Quality Award Program – further demonstrating their commitment to quality and being on a collaborative, continuous improvement journey that involves residents, families and team members,” said Sue Coppola, SVP of Care for Sunrise. “Sunrise is proud to currently have 142 total Bronze National Quality Award recipients, the most of any single assisted living provider.”

“These communities have risen to the challenge set forth by the Bronze level criteria,” said Ed McMahon, Ph.D., VP of Quality for Sunrise. “Achieving this level of success takes vision, planning and a commitment to long-term quality improvement. We applaud these communities for their achievement.”

Implemented by AHCA/NCAL in 1996, the National Quality Award Program is centered on the core values and criteria of the nationally recognized Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The program includes three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Trained examiners review each member application to determine if the center has met the criteria.

All 2016 National Quality Award recipients will be honored during AHCA/NCAL’s Annual Convention & Exposition, October 16-19, in Nashville, TN.
