Sunrise Announces Two-For-One Stock Split

Sunrise Senior Living, Inc. (NYSE: SRZ), today announced that its board of directors has approved a two-for-one stock split of its common stock to be effected in the form of a 100 percent stock dividend. As a result of the stock split, each shareholder of record at the close of business on September 20, 2005 will receive one additional share of common stock for each share held on that date. Sunrise's transfer agent is expected to distribute the stock dividend on October 3, 2005. The stock split will increase the number of shares of Sunrise's common stock outstanding from approximately 21.3 million to approximately 42.6 million. Trading will begin on a split-adjusted basis on October 4, 2005.
