Regina Opfer of Wayne celebrated her recent 100th birthday at a Parisian themed birthday party with family and friends. Everything was Paris themed, including the guests, who all wore berets.

Opfer is a resident at the Sunrise Senior Living Center, and moved to Wayne from Clifton with her husband about 18 years ago. While she has seen and experienced many incredible things in her lifetime, one life-long dream had always been to visit Paris.

"When we asked her how she would like to celebrate her 100th birthday, after a long pause she replied "Well, I’ve never been to Paris!’ So we decided to bring Paris to her with a Parisian themed birthday party," commented her granddaughter Blaire Pollock. Opfer’s 100th birthday party was held at the Pollock’s home in Wayne, and everything was Paris themed, including the guests, who all wore berets.

The party’s attendees included her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as friends from all over the country, including California, Colorado, Texas, Maryland, North Carolina, Washington, DC and even some family from Canada. The most important thing for Opfer on her 100th birthday was to spend it with the people whom she loved the most, and she got her wish.

At her party, Opfer said, "Family and friends are the best things in someone’s life and I’m so lucky to share mine with all of you. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves today as much as I have." Opfer also shared that her secret to a long life has been, "being surrounded by family and friends.... and jelly beans help too!"

Opfer currently attends church services at Sunrise Senior Living Center, and frequently spends time with her children and grandchildren, many of which who also reside in Wayne.
